Following the historic handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga on March 9, 2018, a fourteen member Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce was formed and tasked “to evaluate the national challenges outlined in the Joint Communiqué of ‘Building Bridges to a New Kenyan Nation, and having done so, make practical recommendations and reform proposals that build lasting unity”.
As part of the BBI, political leaders across the divide have proposed the need to hold a referendum and amend the constitution of Kenya 2010, to among others address identified gaps in the supreme law, strengthen devolution and create more executive positions. Infotrak Research and Consulting partnered with Integrated Development Network (IDN), an independent, not for profit organization that specializes in governance, security, peace, cohesion and public ethics issues, to conduct an opinion poll and get citizenry views on the proposed constitution changes.
